Freezing and restarting

Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me. I have had a problem for a couple years now and it is getting worse. Basically, When I am using photoshop cc (up to date as is my mac OS). It will literally just freeze for about 30 seconds and then the computer screen goes black and then it  just will restart. There is no crash message, or indication that something went wrong, simply lost work which is very frustrating.

Someone suggested to me a while back that my external hard drive where I am saving my work might be too full or too slow, so I replaced it with an SSD drive and it still persists. I have my ram maxed out on my late 2015 iMac, all my software is up to date... I am at a total loss as to what could be causing this. I've cleared my preferences which may or may not help... Bad ram? I did not get my ram from Mac, but I have no issues using any other software... ever. Sometimes happens while I am editing, sometimes while I am saving... But if I am working steadily, it is sure to happen at least every hour.

Photoshop cc - 19.1.5

Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.5

32 GB of ram (4 x 8GB 1867 MHz DDR3)

Retina 5K 27 inch Late 2015

SSD start up disk and SSD external drive

Processor 4 GHz intel Core i7

Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB

Wacom Intuos Pro S

Re: Photoshop CC freezes PC - HARD restart needed

If the entire machine is freezing (requiring a reset or power cycle), shutting down, or rebooting - then you are looking at a bug in the OS, a bug in a low level driver, or defective hardware.  Applications cannot cause those behaviors on modern OSes.

The most common causes we've seen are: defective RAM, defective motherboards, defective hard drives, defective GPUs or VRAM, and bugs in some low level drivers (USB, video, and SATA mostly).

Thanks. I will try removing the ram and see if the problem persists. Other than that I guess I would have to take it to apple to determine another issue? Is there a way to test this myself?
