Frequent Crashes of CC apps

I'm getting intermittent crashes (lock ups) when switching between CC apps (mostly AE and PP, but also including Encoder and PS).

There are usually two or more CC apps open at a time, and the only remedy I've found is to force quit, and re-start.

I believe it got worse after I upgraded from Mac OSX Yosemite to Sierra.

I've got a Late 2013 Mac Pro 2.7GHz 12-core Intel Xeon E5 with 65 GB of RAM.

I've searched both adobe and Creative Cow forums, but much of the information seems too old to be relevant.

Any help is appreciated!
