Fresh new Windows 10 installation and Photoshop gobbles up 90 seconds to launch

This is fresh, fresh, fresh install of Windows 10, on this faithful 16G RAM Core i7 PC.

The only thing installed here, other than Photoshop CC 2018, is Microsoft Office -- nothing else.

What beats me is the time it takes for Photoshop to complete the "Initializing panels" process, a whopping 90 seconds.

I tried deactivating GPU in Preferences, I don't have a fast video card anyway.

I tried disconnecting all external USB drives to no avail.

I have fond memories of quick Photoshop launch time on this very machine

I found the same thing after updating to the latest version of Photoshop CC 2019 vers 20.0.0.  I found that the problem was caused by a corrupted Recent File List.  By Clearing the Recent File List all load times have returned to their previous under 10 second times.

To accomplish this:
Select File Menu
Open Recent
and Select Clear Recent File List - located at the bottom of the Recent File List.

After that, Close and Re-Open Photoshop CC and the load times should be back to normal (if this was your problem - as it was mine).

Hi RogerBreton,

Please try to launch Photoshop holding down the shift key and click on yes to skip loading optional plug ins. Check if the performance issue persists or not.

Also, Go to Photoshop Preferences then "General" and Uncheck: "Show Start Work Space when no documents are open".

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi Akash Sharma,

I tried launching Photoshop.exe holding the Shift down -- no difference, actually worse.

I already had the default Shot Start Workspace… unchecked.

Hi Roger,

Could you please restore Photoshop preferences to default and let us know if that helps.

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

Note: Using the keyboard shortcut, preference files for custom shortcuts, workspaces, and color settings will also be reset to default.
