Question

Generating Digital from Indesign layout

I have been generating layouts for clients using Indesign, and then need these same designs for Digital.

My work around has been to export a PDF from Indesgn, open that PDF in photoshop, then generate a jpeg in "Save for Web"

Is there any chance the handling of font or a vector etc is degraded, or the pixel output is degraded in some way using this method; as opposed to remaking the layout in photoshop and then "Save for Web"?

Side by side they do have a slight difference ( and file size is slightly different)... but is there evidence that making a photoshop file or importing a PDF has a different quality when "Save for Web"?

1

Made in Indesign - export PDF - import PDF in photoshop "Save for Web" 300x300 pixels Maximum 100% quality - 64KB

2

Made in Photoshop - "Save for Web" 300x300 pixels Maximum 100% Quality -  71KB

Is there a better way?

Thanks

How exactly do you export the pdf in Indesign?

If you convert placed RGB images to a CMYK space some clipping of colors that are out-of-gamut for that space may naturally occur.

And as D Fosse mentioned you can export jpgs from Indesign, too.

You can export directly to jpeg/png from InDesign.

The difference you see above is because you haven't embedded the color profile in the Save For Web version.
