Where do these GIFs come from?

What makes you think they are longer than Photoshop shows them to be?

If anything, frame animations tend to play slower when open in Photoshop, than when viewing them in a web browser.

Can you provide more info. Above post looks like statement not question. You can tell us which version of Photoshop you are using, what is source of GIF's, how you know there should be more layers etc...

Trevor.Dennis I'm using the latest installation of photoshop (cc 2019). this seems to happen with any gif I use. and I know there should be more layers and frames because when I open the gif in the photos app on windows 10 it plays the whole thing; in photoshop it cuts off (and yes, it was already shorter than 500 frames). not to mention when I try to save it in photoshop its file size is smaller than it is outside of it

Wow, 500 frames is _very_ high for a frame animation.  I don't think I have ever seen one so big.   So do you think there is an issue with saving the file from the web?

It sounds like you are viewing an animation on the web.  Downloading and opening in Photoshop, and the Photoshop version is not complete.  Is that about right?

Are these ordinary GIFs, or hosted with something like GIFFY?

Are they absolutely for sure GIF files, and not video files?

Provide a link for one of the problem files, then we'll know for sure what is going on.
