GPU Drawing mode gone in PS 22.1

I updated my Photoshop to version 22.1 yesterday. After handing over an image from Lightroom to do some retouch work, i recognized that tools like the patch tool are extremly slow and laggy.

I am using GPU acceleration on my GTX 1050Ti in LR and in PS, with full acceleration in LR and with Drawing Mode "Simple" in PS to avoid performance problems. Lightroom eats up the VRAM completely so this is the only way to get acceptable performance in both programs.

When the problem occured, i checked the performance settings of PS:

The drawing mode selection ist gone! It seems like PS is now trying to handle the GPU usage by itself.

Is it a bug or is this the expected behaviour in Version 22.1?

I had to switch back to 22.0.1 to get the drawing mode back.

My system config is:

Intel Core i5-4570

16 GB DDR3 RAM

Nvidia GTX 1050Ti with 4GB VRAM

running on Windows 10 (20H2)

editing on a single 4K Display.

Hi! update to Photoshop 22.1.1 as it fixes the "drawing modes unavailable" problem:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html

If the update does not appear in the CC app, go to help>check for updates.

Hi

Not sure why Adobe have removed them options in version 22.1, but you can post your query on the Adobe Feedback Forum which is monitored by Adobe engineers

Hello!
I have the same problem. After updating PS to the latest version that option is gone. The "basic" mode is the only option that allows me to have consistent colors between LR and PS. in fact, with the other drawing modes the colors take on a green hue in photoshop.
My system:
Windows 10 2004
Intel Core i7-6700K
16 Gb  DDR4
Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, with 457.30 Driver studio
Dual Monitor Benq PD2500Q. Dell U2515H
Sorry for my bad English.

Came here to complain about this, being able to dial the drawing mode down to basic was the only way I could get 22.0 to be usable on my 2018 13" Macbook Pro, the lag with the pen tool is just too slow otherwise. Im back to 21.2.4 now.

My system specs:

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

Did some tests, you are right. Performance with 22.0.1 is bad, altough Drawing Mode is back there.

I installed 21.2.4, set the drawing mode to normal. Selections tools are fast, no lags or other problems. But i noticed, that "use native operating system gpu acceleration" is greyed out in this version, but it seems not to be affecting my workflow. (Installed graphic drivers: 457.30 Studio Drivers)

Afterwards i came to the idea of testing the same settings with 22.0.1, maybe the native gpu acceleration could cause the problem. So i did the same set-up with 22.0.1, same test scenario. But the performance is still unusable. So i had to switch back to 21.2.4.

The interesting thing is, that the problem is only present, when Lightroom Classic is running too. At first i thought, LrC is causing the performance problems in PS, but it seems like it is PS 22.x.
