Question

Gradient out of 2 colors

I would like to create a design to be knitted and can use only 2 colors. I would like to creat a gradient from red to green, so that in the transition center there is always one pixel red next to one pixel green (= one stich to be knitted). I am very grateful for ideas how to get here.

Thank you!

Does Indexed Color support gradients? It's been so long since I worked in it.

Gradient tool does not work with Indexed Color mode.

If you were to convert an existing gradient to a limited color pallete the results are mixed:

If you had two color layers, and the top had a high-contrast dithered mask, that would give the effect, but that might entail a secondary grayscale document to create.

Creating a gradient using the Gradient tool in Photoshop will mix the two colors seamlessly.

Im not sure how you would designate specific pixel colors without creating this manually.

A better more controlled option may be to use Illustrator

You can use the Blend function with specified steps to create a controllable mix.

You can also then expand each step to adjust the color accordingly.
