Good. I've put it on my list of things to look into more closely.

+1 for Macrium. I use it here for automatic nightly backups. It protects against system failures and my own stupidity 🙂 I can restore the full system or any individual file from the past few months.

I had to google that, it looks like a sensible piece of software.

I did have Acronis True Image installed one time, but it became more and more like an alien invasion force trying to take over my whole computer. It was a relief to get rid of it.

It seems Photoshop 24.5 tightened the GPU requirements one more notch. We've all known for some time that DirectX 12 is required, but now we've seen all these messages about "feature level 12" versus "feature level 11". That's new. Diving into GPU specs for older cards, I've noticed that a lot of them say they support DirectX 12 - but only feature level 11. I have no idea what this means and what the distinction is. Only that this time, the distinction seems crucial.

My work machine has an older Quadro P2200, and I'm getting nervous with every Photoshop update now, thinking this time it's going to break. It hasn't yet, and it does have "feature level 12". But I'm starting to plan for replacing it.

Maybe you should consider creating an image of your hard drive, I do it on a weekly basis using Macrium Reflect, that way if things don't go according to plan with a system/software update I can always revert to a previous image backup, I can have my system up and running again in the time it takes to make a cup of tea, the same as it was prior to the update.

Well, this is the reality these days and we all have to deal with it. I have a machine myself that will soon need a new GPU. Software evolves, and hardware with it.

You can't install Windows 11 on even newer hardware, just to put it in perspective.

So Adobe is telling me I can't use Photoshop anymore unless I: (1) buy a new PC or (2) keep using the last version that worked, which is 24.4.1? Well, that's a total bummer. I've been using PS since the first version many years ago and have never had to update my hardware to use it. To make matters worse, I updated to 24.5 and after getting the incompatibility message I went back to 24.4. Lo and behold, all of my actions and many other settings were wiped out, causing much labor to get back close to where I had been. Not a good situtation, Adobe, but maybe enough to lose my 10 bucks a month.

You can try and get updates from Intel for the first two issues but the third cannot be resolved with out changing to a newer GPU. It is saying that Photoshop requires Direct X 12 features to be supported in the GPU but your GPU only supports Direct X 11.

@Faitha the only way to fix it is to install a GPU that supports DirectX 12, the Intel 4600 was released in 2013 so it's 10 years old and not compatible with the most recent versions of Photoshop
