Gray screen when switching windows

After the 2020 update - switching to another app and then back to photoshop causes the work area (not palettes) to be all gray.  Only a scroll around the spaces makes it redraw and show the screen again.

    Actually it is more than this - seems to be the screen does not redraw properly when doing things like lassoing a selection as well.
