Having problem with Maximize PSDs for Compatibility

After I updated Photoshop to latest version, I no long have a prompt asking if I want to Maximize when saving. I have set it to Ask, with no results. When I save a file with it set to Never, it is still a huge file. I like having the Ask choice as it helps me manage the size of my storage. I have uninstalled and reinstalled...3 times 🙂 Any help is greatly appreciated.
