Having problems selecting a color using brush on a new layer

Hello everybody,

hope anyone can help me. When a make a new layer and I select my brush and then I use Option key to select a color from the photo I am working, it is not selecting that color

why is that?

Hey! It's because when you create a new layer, it's transparent so you can't pick any color. To select a color that you have on an other layer, click on this one, then use the option key to pick the color, come back on the new one and pain!
