Having trouble (scratch disk full) !

Hello, I am not new to photoshop, although, I've been having troube with my application.. I've cleared scratch disk space before and it did fine, but for what ever reason, when I try now it doesn't work. Then I was updating all of my apps and noticed that the photoshop one kept failing... then when I proceeded to open the app, instead of opening, I got a message saying that the scratch disks were full and to clear them before I can proceed. Now the problem is, the only way I know how to clear the scratch disks is through the app under edit, etc. But is there another way to do so without having the application open? I am on a MacBook Air.
Thanks to anyone who can answer my question and help me out! I need to get it working asap!

Hello, I think that error message should have a link that points to the relevant helpx document: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-scratch-disk-is-full.html

(please check it, as Mylenium stated, you want to clear some space on your drive/ssd)

Check if there are no old ~PST files (the scratch files)

If you have a fast external disk you could try to set it temporarily as a scratch disk at boot by holding CMD+ALT as soon as you click on Photoshop's icon, as explained here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/scratch-disks-preferences.html

I hope this helps.

There are some documents that point to journaling logs that can take some unneeded space, or check your downloads folder, use this opportunity to backup your files on two external locations...

Go to your disk utility and run a system cleanup from there. Sounds like you are simply running out of disk space overall.
