Question

Healing brush, clone stamp acting strangely

I am having a problem with all brush tools.  They are only effective in the center of the brush.  If I'm using the healing brush to remove dust spots and I select an 80 pixel brush it only heals about 40 pixels in the center.  It's the same for all brush tools.

the best way to fix this is to uninstall the newest photoshop and use an older version like 22.2 it would fix the healing brush from cloning a bunch of things

I would recommend doing proper trouble-shooting before reverting to an obsolete Photoshop version.

As you are working on Mac what is the »Pointer size« set to (under Accessibility)?

Thanks for reaching out! Could you let me know what versions of Photoshop and your operating system you're using? If possible, please share a screenshot of your brush settings too.

I'm using Photoshop 2024 on a MacBook Pro.  It won't let me take a screenshot with the clone tool active but here is a screenshot of the result.  I used a 40 pixel brush and cloned from the dark green tree so it would show up on the sky.  Only about 20 pixels from the center of the brush were cloned.  It is the same with each brush tool.

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Brush Settings, Options Bar, …) visible?
