Help - Action placing embedded DNG smart object instead inserts linked smart object

Hi all-

 

I 'm attempting to record a pretty simple action - embedding a smart object (in this case a DNG with settings applied in LR), to an existing layered PSD file. 

 

It works when do the steps manually - and when I record the action. However - even though I am *clearly* choosing "place embedded",  the script is recording "with linked" at the end of the step. 

 

Converting the linked smart object using the option "convert to embedded" zero's out the the ACR settings embedded in the original, thereby defeating the purpose, so that is out as a workaround. 

 

What am I missing? 

 

Thoughts? Solutions?

I do not use Lightroom.  However, Lightroom does not record Actions and photoshop is not a file editor.  Photoshop is a document editor and RAW Image files can be place embedded or Placed linked into a Photoshop document.  The Raw Conversion settings can  be made and set in Lightroom Develop module, or in Adobe bridge via ACR plug-in or in Photoshop via ACR.  Of during Place  via ACR if there are no raw conversion setting for the RAW file being placed in.  Place will have ACR open its UI for the user to make conversion settings.    

 

So Place steps recorder into Actions are recorded via Photoshop Action Palette's recorder.  I  see a big difference in the recorded  Place steps be tween Place  Embedded and Place Linked.   Place Link Action step has a few setting recorder where place Embedded Step has many Step setting recorded.  You did not state what OS you are using or what version of Photoshop you are using the record Place embedded as Place linked. Here Is what I see recorded. Place linked:  For Place Link Raw Conversion Setting may be changed by an other conversion made to the linked file.  Where the Embedded file copy setting are local in the smart object layer.

Same Raw File step recorder for Place embedded: There is no "with linked"  recorded in the action step.
