Question

Help with 3D Renders please.

Hello.

I am after some info regarding 3D renders.

I have a flat artwork in Illustrator, which I can rasterize to get into Photoshop, or copy paste as a smart object, depending on needs.

I have a 3D wireframe (DAE file) of the component I wish to apply the artwork to.

I can access the DAE through the 3D menu and "Mesh From Preset".

I am having issues with where the artwork is placed onto the wireframe. It does not drop into the position I wish it to.

What am I not doing correctly or what setting would I need to change?

Does anyone have any pointers to an idiots guide or good tutorials for this issue, or even an answer?

Many thanks for reading this message.

Simon

    Hello Angie.

    I have installed this extension.

I now am stck with trying to convert my dae file into a c4d file.

    1. Is this the correct thing to do?

    2. Is there an online converter you can recommend?

    Thanks

    Simon

    Hi there,

Where did you get the DAE file from? Do they offer a C4D version for download?

What type of object is it?

    cheers,

    Angie

    Hi Angie

I now have the Cineware add on in Illustrator.

I have my sachet as a C4D file. 3d wireframe.

I have an Illustrator file I wish to place onto my "3d sachet file" (c4D file?)

How do I go about doing this?

    Another question.

Will my file retain it's original colours or will it be rendered as RGB?

    Thanks ever so much

    Hi Angie

Thanks for your input, unfortunately I do not run the latest version of Illustrator, (19.2.1) so this would not be an option.

However, Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this.

It may be worth you installing the 30 day trial just to use it! :-)

    Hi

With the material selected, in the properties panel go to Diffuse and click the small folder symbol next to it. It opens up a menu.

You will see Edit Texture. Click on it and it opens a psb with the UV map overlayed on it. You can put your Illustrator artwork as a Smart object layer in that psb, positioning it, and if necessary warping it,  using the UV map as a guide. When done save the psb to update the 3D layer.

You also have the ability, from the same menu, to use Edit UV properties - although this is limited to scaling , tiling and offset.  If you need to open up the UV map in a specific way you will need to go to a full 3D program, such as Blender, to do that.
