Hint of grey

Does somebody know how to avoid the hint of grey that appears on the outside of the object when using the refine edge / select and mask tool.

It's the anti-aliasing. In your Select and Mask, you can use the shift edge to cut it out - move the slider to the left. There are tons of other ways to eliminate it, but since it sounds like you are using Select and Mask, this would be the simplist.
