How About Photoshop Incorporating a sequential numbering system for saving JPEG or other PS files

I use the rename feature in Adobe Bridge to add Fish_[date]_[sequential numbering].extension. There is a tab for each section and you can check at the bottom to confirm you have the sequence you expect. It does it on as many files as you have selected.

You can use Image Pocessor Pro for that task. IPP is mostly useful for batch after saving files although there is option to process open files. Under File Naming section use second/middle drop down list to incorporate sequence numbering in the name or type your custom text.

The easiest approaches are the batch rename feature of Adobe Bridge or if you have Lightroom look there.

P.S. There are some scripts available for creating sequentially numbered file saves, however, the devil is in the details.
