Question

how can I completely disable this "linked assets" nonsense?

I will never use these libraries with linked files - how can I totally disable it?

Photoshop used to be the one program the you could be sure of getting all the parts you needed in a file, and now I keep getting missing "assets" in supplied files because of this and I want to show my customers how to disable it. I've also accidentally saved parts of my files to a library and now have to re-locate the files to drop them into the photoshop document rather than linking to Tham. This library and linked "assets" (read "files")  thing is an utter disaster.

Another way is to open the Creative Cloud app.

From the drop down menu in the upper right corner, choose Preferences.

    Click on Creative Cloud.

    Then click on Files.

Turn off the check box for Creative Cloud Sync.

There is usually a checkbox that is on by default, but you can uncheck it. For example, when creating a new swatch,

    or when pasting.

Watch for those check boxes. Once you uncheck them, they will remain unchecked.

There are many check boxes to turn off for various types of actions so it's easy to miss one. Once they are off they stay off. But the next time Adobe releases a new version of the software, by default they are all checked again.
