Adobe Animate offers several ways to use sound. Make sounds that play continuously, independent of the Timeline, or use the Timeline to synchronize animation to a sound track. If you are looking for adding sound effect like the way mentioned here How to use sound in Adobe Animate CC , then you can get the idea from here as well. Hope it helps.

You can also add sounds to buttons and fields in Acrobat, if you want to give them a PDF to work with.

You cannot add sounds to images.  Graphics do not support audio.

You would code that in Dreamweaver, Muse or Animate CC using HTML & JavaScript.

So my students cannot hear a bell ring for a correct response click or a buzz for an incorrect image click?

Please tell us more about how you're planning to output your project. Then we can give you better direction.   JPG, PNG and GIF images alone do not support sounds.
