How do I delete only the last section of a pen path in Photoshop?

I mean the section between two anchor points (small white squares).

Use the Direct Selection tool (white arrow) > click the section of the path > press Delete

 

The Direct Selection tool share space with the Path Selection tool (black arrow) and both have the shortcut "A". I like to go to Edit > Toolbars and pull them apart so they do not share a space.
