How do I delete Temp files from the scratch disk?

I've been reading all over the internet about this error I got that says "your scratch disk is full." Everyone says to clear out the temp files, but I don't know how to. I'm currently trying to save a project and send it in for print, but this is holding me back.

I'm working with a Macbook Pro Retina with 250gb HD.

The Scratch Disk is set to Macintosh HD.

Macintosh HD only has 38.94mb free.

I recently installed a program that took up a bunch of space.

However, I also removed tons of videos and movies to make room for it.

I'm not going to pretend like I know what I'm doing, but I at least know some basics.

Can somebody help me get rid of this problem?

empty the trash on your main desktop,

until you empty it, all the stuff you threw in there is still taking up room as far as OS is concerned.

do  search for files over a certain size say over 300mb and you will likely find something that you can bin that you don't need.

Hi

To immediately free up some scratch space that Photoshop is using, go to Edit-Purge, and remove some (or all) of the saved scratch information.

Go to Apple logo (top left) > About this Mac > Storage, to see what's mainly filling up your drive.
