Question

How do I find the scripts to a program in a Photoshop Mac?

I've been plagued with a photoshop extension that won't go away - even though I've spent weeks searching every inch of my system.

The offending program is Brushbox - and even though I've deleted everything, it still loads into photoshop and it still crashes every time I click on it. I can't load any other extensions until this extension is removed.

I read on a forum that this might be solved by finding the 'scripts' associated with this defective program.

So.. how does one find the 'scripts' that go with this program in finder or spotlight?

Thanks...

Deleting it and reinstalling it wouldn't have removed add-ons. You do need to know where they live... then you could be there in a few seconds.

That's good to know. It's a real chore trying to find the extension when even the developer can't tell me where the program puts the files.

Have you also searched the hidden Library-folder?

If not: it would be available in the Finder with the alt-key pressed under Go > Library

Okay, after following this thread and another different Adobe thread I FINALLY, found the location of the missing file that was causing the invisible extension to crash photoshop!!!!

It was located here in a folder with the brushbox name associated with it...

Adobe/CS6 service manager/extensions

This was after searching and then giving up about 15 times and writing to the brushbox developer about 10 times and then they finally gave up and just sent my money back and told me 'you're on your own jack'.  So it's been a real PITA but now it's fixed!!!

I can't tell if it was holding down the alt key while searching that revealed the folder - but maybe it was. In any event, I had the software programmer try to find the hidden location for weeks - and they couldn't find it - so in fact it could be found, even though nowhere on Spotlight did it ever show up.

You were very lucky to find the folder by searching, the system is set up to stop that. You need to know what folder to go to and go straight there. Often this means going through invisible folders.

I use windows  on windows they are instaledl into and Adobe common  extentions folder

User scripts are normally installed into each Photoshop version Presets\scripts

Photoshop Scripts have a file extension one windows like jsx on OSX  use finder to see where jsx files are on your mac
