Question

How do I fix a display driver problem?

I opened up Photoshop cc 2015 and I get this box that says "Photoshop has encountered problems with the display driver and it has disabled the graphic card" or something like that. It says see manufacturer more information but I couldn't click on the link. Incidentally I paid to install up to date drivers but it didn't solve the problem. How do I fix it?

Hi ruthied,

What OS version are you using?

If you are on Windows, have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?

Do you have more than one GPU in your system?  If so, have you updated all the drivers?

Regards,

Chetna

I am having the same issue on a MacBook Pro (15" E 2011, i7 2.2GHz, 16GB) running OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite).
Graphics card is: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB

This is only happening with Photoshop CC 2015. (InDesign CC2015 runs like a dying tortoise too, but that's a separate issue).
Does not happen with CC 2014 or CS6, both of which are able to run with the GPU enabled.
PS CC2014 and CS6 run a LOT faster than CC2015. Never a spinning ball with those versions while waiting for Photoshop to figure something out.

Hi JR,

Would suggest you to follow these steps :

  • Quit Photoshop
  • Open Finder
  • Choose Go menu and select Go to folder
  • Type in ~/library and hit Go
  • Open Preferences > Adobe Photoshop CC2015
  • Move sniffer file from that location to desktop or rename it to sniffer-old
  • Launch Photoshop CC2015 and check if that works well
