I used the marquee tool to select a drawing and then I copied and pasted said drawing, but it left a grey border from where I outlined it. How do I get rid of it?

Guys, I figured out my own problem. I'm so dumb. Somehow I added an artboard on top of the one I was working on and that's what caused the grey box. Still not sure what actions lead to that ,but I fixed it and it's gone now. Thank you everyone who responded and tried to help!

I see this a lot Ged.  Especially when using selections to create Layer masks.  It usually means I forgot that I had a feather set in the options bar.

Rather than try and paint the out, I find it cleaner and quicker to make a very quick rough selection with the lasso tool, and hit the delete key.  That removes them totally with one key click.
