How do you delete a singular file?

I've been searching the internet for a while, and I can't anyhing on how to delete a singular file. I do not want to delete all my recent files, I just want one deleted.

Hi. Rename or delete the file in the Finder or Explorer, then click on the preview of the file on Photoshop.

If you break the link to the recent file (moving it, renaming it) and then select the in recent files, it will throw an error because the file can no longer be found – then it will be removed from the recent list.
