Question

How to back up brushes and other tools?

If for any reason you've had to reinstall PS, you may have realized you LOST all your custom brushes and other tools like cuatom crop presets. I've read about migrating and exporting those items. That would work great if my crystal ball alerted me to an impending crash or other such disaster. So I thought maybe using Time Machine to back up those files would be a great way to accomplish this task.

I don't back up my applications as I figure I'd be restoring them from a disk or download from the web. So in order to back up presets, brushes and tools, I would have to include my applications, then exclude applications to not back up (a lot). We all know these tool files are buried deep with in the PS app file structure. So the PS subdirectories would have to be selecctively excluded in order to accomplish this. I'm beginning to get a headache thinking about doing that.

So acouple of thoughts:

Any ideas on how to back up the tools, presets and brushes without all the Time Machine exclusions?

Is there a way to set up a special folder for tools, brushes and presets as a subdirectory in a location that is backed up?

Any help/suggestions is appreciated.

Yeah, as I stated in my original post: "I've read about migrating and exporting those items. That would work great if my crystal ball alerted me to an impending crash or other such disaster."

Im looking for something a little more automatic.
