Question

How to change box size after masking?

Hello, when I scan something on a4 and I make a mask, the box around the object stays a4. this is kind of cumbersome when I want to transform/rotate/scale the object (see screenshot). I know, I can go back and crop the whole thing but isn't there another way to change the box size afterward? thank you c

I would save your ordinal photo shop file as .psd Then either rasterize or merge down the layers and crop as you wish. Save as .png

"I know, I can go back and crop the whole thing"

Hi @Christoph5FF2

You don't want to crop, as cropping is for the entire document. Instead, destructively delete most of the pixels on the "m" layer, keeping a large enough rectangle around the mouse that you can still edit the mask.

First make sure you have the full size image on a layer by itself and lock it so it never gets changed. Then you can copy that layer again if needed, and move or copy another mask to it.

Thank you jane! That means, this is one of the few things you have to do destructively right? There is no way to scale the box down in a non destructive way, correct? Cheers

Your screen shot does not give us enough information. We need the entire workspace with at least the layers panel showing as well as the document window.
