How to change stains/difference on a wooden board into a solid color

Hi Guys, look please at my example. As You can see the wooden board has a difference in painting between the top and bottom sides. You can see there are actually lacquer stains. What is the best way to improve/change these stains into solid painting color? Any recommendations are welcome and thanks in advance!

Try putting the image into Lab mode then using a masked curve on the upper wood, first adjusting the Lightness - then the colour channels (a and b). Finally add a layer and cover the join with the spot healing tool set to 'All layers'

      Maybe a bit involved, but I would do a frequency separation. Then I would create a luminosity mask to separate the darker grain from tje lighter wood. I then use the mixer brush to blend in the lighter wood at the bottom on the tone layer of the separation mask. The do the same with the darker grain, if it even needs it.
