How to change the color of an object with a reflector?

Hey everyone! I am new to this forum and wanted to post a question/struggle I am having with a current edit. I have a picture of my dog with a antler in her mouth that I am making look like a drawing that will later on be printed on a t-shirt. Because she has on a pink collar I want to change it to hunter safety orange to make look more like a sporting dog. I will later on change the background and this will be printed on a t-shirt. I figured out how to change the color of the collar perfectly however, the collar has a zebra print reflector around it. If I select the collar as a whole and change the hue to my perfered color it will not change the zebra print reflector. I do not wish to keep the print or the pink color so I thought it would blend it all together. I have also selected only the zebra reflector part and tried to adjust the hue separately and all it did was create a neon rainbow effect. I tried to put a teture over it but it still would not change the color in that particular spot. I can cut this out and still leave the pink edges. I took this photo with my iPhone and did not use a flash so the photo does not have any light reflecting off of it. I am just looking for some advise as to what the best option would be for me if anyone can help. Should I cut that part of the collar out and replace with a texture?  I just want the whole collar saftey orange and to get rid of the zebra print reflector and change it to a drawing.

I would select the zebra area and paint it in to look like the rest of the collar. Most likely change the color of the collar first, then work on painting in the reflective area.

Hard to tell without seeing the image. Can you post it?
