How to change the image size of a smart object without changing the parent composition

I need to reduce the file size of my PSD.

If I change the image size of my smart objects, the composition is broken. 

Is there a way to edit the image size of a smart object without messing up the parent composition ?

It’s called »Resolution«.  

 

But you are aware that you are destroying data that way? 

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible of both the SO and the containing document?
