How to eliminate Fill Dialog box

On my M1 Mac mini, setting the Fill... shortcut to something complicated makes the Delete Key delete what's in a selection without bringing up the Fill Dialog box.

However, on my Macbook Air with Intel i7, it still brings up the annoying Fill dialog box instead of just deleting what's inside the selection when I use the delete key.

How do I kill the Fill Dialog box so it never shows up again unless I use the mouse to select it in the menu?

Photoshpop 24.3 on both machines, latest Ventura on both as well.

One way is to change the background layer to a floating layer by clicking on the layer padlock. Then it deletes instead of bringing up the fill dialog. Sure it's a workaround...but will do until someone more in the know has a definite answer.

I'm using an Intel i7 as well.
