How to merge layers and their edited parts

I did some frequency separation on the arms and face and put them in a group

Beneath the group are my layers for the glowing glasses and the background.

How do I combine the two? When I merge them, it doesn't work.

Why don’t you move the Adjustment Layers atop?

The adjustment layers seem to work but the layer 3 won't show the skin adjustments I made in group 1.

Or put another way the skin adjustments won't show the glasses layer when I put that on top. Very annoying.

I get the feeling it is simple but I am unfamiliar with photo shop

I don’t understand your problem.

Group 1 seems to contain Layers covering the whole Canvas so naturally they cover what’s below them.
