How to move photoshop from background back to the front

I have only used my new laptop maybe 3 days. A couple of hours each of those days. Yesterday after I closed out to go to lunch, I came back and when I try and open Ps..... nothing. It shows the 12 times I tried opening it in the task manager. I ended all tasks, I restarted the laptop, uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted and still it opens in the background. I've tried running as admin - zilch, I've reset to default (alt, ctrl,delete)- zilch again. Bridge and CC app open perfectly fine. How to I get Ps back?? Please help ASAP!! I have a brand new HP Omen 64gb RAM, AMD ryzen7, nvidia GeForce rtx. This should not be happening. I read to not use X to close out but at this point I can't even see the program to close it to prevent it from being force to the background again.

Hey, @Theresadub4d. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Is there a crash report when your force quit Photoshop from the Task Manager? Please submit the crash reports to us: https://adobe.ly/48ISSiy

What specific HP Omen device are you working on? Do you have multiple displays attached?

If you device has two GPUs, the power-saving AMD Radeon Graphics & the high-performance Nvidia RTX GPU.

1 - Ensure the GPU Drivers are updated for both adapters.

If that does not help, try this sequence of steps:

1 - Uninstall Photoshop.

2 - Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
  • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
  • Restart the computer.

3 - Install Photoshop from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

4 - Launch as a adminstrator & check if that helps.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
