You can create a new layer with only the pixels in that selection, by using the shortcut key CTRL-J.  Put that new layer over your 'new' background layer.

    Select the the object

while you have the selection tool as your cursor, right click. The pop up box will have "Layer Via Copy"   and "Layer Via Cut",

Via COPY duplicates the selected material so it's still available on the original layer AND the new layer

Via CUT    is like a pair of scissors and takes it out of the original layer

    Good day!

A Selection is a Selection, what background the image has is not immediately connected to that.

Could you clarify what you mean by posting a screenshot?

    Regards,

Hi sorry  that I did  not  specify. My question is when you used the quick selection tool to choose a specific area in a photo  like a person a head, a chair. How you move the selection to a new Background?
