How to ?: Output Large File for Printing

I am doing vehicle wraps. Often have files over 4Gb. I am designing in PS and normally output as Tiff. to use with flexi and mutoh.

The program doesnt allow me to save as tiff. (over 4Gb)

Is there a way around this other than chopping the file into pieces. Having one large print is most desirable.

Your ideas would be Greatly appreciated !!!

It's a common misunderstanding that you need 300ppi for large format print. You don't. The bigger it is, the lower the ppi because it's seen from much farther away. There's absolutely no reason to struggle with a 4GB file.

Rule of thumb: Any good camera file from a current camera will work for any physical print size, without any resampling.

Good points about resolution and photos, however vehicle wraps are generally more like a composite or layout than a single photo, resolution guidelines still apply.

Absolutely. I just used the camera example as a ballpark size that will work.

What resolution is required should always be considered case by case. But it's usually a whole lot lower than people tend to think.

If your are you saving a Layered Tiff try saving your layers in a PSB file and save a tiff that is not layered it should save smaller than 4GB.  If you do your own printing you can print from your open document in Photoshhop.

Reduce the PPI, you don’t need so many if the image is being viewed from a distance.
