how to print an image with a transperant background in photoshop

can someone please help asap I need to print a image with a transparent background but no matter what I do when I go to print the background goes to white.

    Hi,

    Could you please supply the image you're using?

    I think you may be trying to save it as a jpeg, you'll need to save it as a .png to keep the transparency of a background then it will print without any white.

    File > save as > Save file type: PNG (*.PNG*.PNS)

    What substrate are you printing on – something transparent?

    If so does the printer have an additional white color?

    You've posted in the non-technical area. Tell us which application are you using (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, other) so we can move it to the correct forum. Please prepare a screen shot to post to better describe the issue.
