Question

How to remove unused ICC profiles from print dialogue box

Hello, I am using a Mac running High Sierra and latest version of Photoshop.

This is something I've tried to do in the past, and today I've decided to have another go.

There are hundreds of ICC profiles listed in the drop down menu when I go to print. I would like to clear out all but a few, for ease of use.

I've already done a large spring-cleaning of my Library/Colorsync folders (both the user Library folder and System Library), but this doesn't remove anything from Photoshop's list of profiles when I print.

If someone could let me know how to fix the list in Photoshops print dialogue, or where these profiles might be located other than the normal ColorSync locations in the System and User Library, I would really appreciate.

Thank you,

Clark

It depends on the kind of profiles. Custom profiles are stored in the Library/ColorSync folder, but profiles that came with the printer are often stored inside the printer driver package. Adobe often stores them in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles. If you go to your Applications folder and then the Utilities subfolder, you will find an app called 'ColorSync Utility'. That app can tell you the path of each icc-profile on your system and has a convenient button to open that path.

Thanks for the helpful answer. I've successfully located and cleared out a bunch of old printer profiles. However there still seems to be a lot of profiles not listed within ColorSync utility.

All of these in the screenshot below may have something to do with a trial of After Effects and other video applications?

These do indeed look like profiles used in video, at least most of them. Did you check the Application Support/Adobe folders?
