Hi

I have a PSD with two layers and a Background. No problems there.

Now I will import an jpg icon into a new layer in the main PSD.

The white background in the original  icon file was removed and then icon was saved as a JPG.

Now when I cut/past this jpg icon into a new layer in the main PSD the white background

is back. And I can't get rid of it.

what's my wrongdoing??       Regards  /Thomas

Hi

JPG's don't support transparency so I'm a little confused about this bit "The white background in the original icon file was removed and then icon was saved as a JPG"

Could you post a screenshot of Photoshop with all the appropriate panels opened

Edit: if you removed the white background you need to save it as a PNG

There are several ways to remove a white background.

When you cut/paste the jpg the white comes along.

Try using the “Magic Eraser” Tool to remove the white back,

then copy/paste to your main PSD.

As Ged Traynor remarked, the file must be saved as a PNG

in order to preserve transparency.

Tutorial below that may help.
