Question

How to Rollback

Hi

Since the update to Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.3.1 20231212.r.241 46eb480 x64 any attempt to use the Enhance features leads to a GPU error message & I lose the Denoise features which worked fine in earlier versions, although taking some time.

My research has shown that my GPU is out of date & cant be updated. I have no intention of selling my laptop so it would seem that the only fix is to rollback to the version that worked and not do any future PS updates.

I cannot see how I can rollback ACR & PS so I was hoping I could get some advice on how to do this safely.

Thanks for any help provided.

(PS I have a HP Pavilion laptop with 16Gb RAM and a 1Tb SSD. NVIDIA GeForce 940M Display Adapter)

Hi Kevin

thanks for your response. It seems I can't upgrade the GPU as it's inbuilt. Looks like I need to put up with avoiding the enhance features or getting a new laptop☹
cheers

Hi Jane
Thanks for your message.
I don’t seem to have had any problems until around the start of the New Year when I noticed issues with “Denoise” closing down and disabling the GPU.
I been happily using the Enhance features and ACR masking up until then.
Another respondent has advised that my GPU does not support Direct X level 12 so nothing will be gained by rolling back.
It seems crazy that I am faced with having to buy a new laptop to continue to use PS especially now that I am on a pension.
Would you still consider that a rollback is worthwhile or should I disable further updates & avoid using any of the “Enhance” features?
Thanks again
Peter

@PeterRat

Try the direct downloads from ProDesign Tools, which will work with your paid subscription:

https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-2019-direct-download-links.html

Be sure to read the instructions.

What was the last version that worked for you?

@PeterRat your bigger issue is your 2015 940M does not meet minimum GPU requirements for recent Photoshop releases.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html

It only supports DirectX12 (feature level 11) - FL12 is required. Speed clocks in at 753 ops/sec - minimum recommended is 2,000.

You'll need to upgrade your Graphics Card. You won't be able to downgrade to an old enough PS to get past these limitations.

Follow the directions here to rollback to a previous version:

https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html

You might also want to disable automatic updates for applications from Creative Cloud:
