I am no longer able to drag and drop photo files into my Photoshop home screen. Please help.

I recently downloaded Photoshop.  Since yesterday, I have been unable to drag and drop photo files into the home screen of Photoshop.  How do I correct this?

Do you want to open the image or what point is the Home Screen supposed to serve in this case?

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
