I'd like palettes to stay on top of images

Hi. I'm looking for a way to keep the palettes "on top" of images, so if I need to see information on a palette, I don't have to move all of the overlapping images away.

The above request is primary. Also, though, I can't drag palettes around, and if I *really* have a wish list, it would be to have the status bar at the top to stay on top as well, so for example, if I want to change the width of a line tool line, I don't have to move three images off of the bar to see the location where that setting is entered.

I'm using Photoshop 24.1.1 on Windows 11

It's not Windows 11 - I use Windows 11 here and the palettes move freely.

Have you done any troubleshooting so far, such as resetting preferences, or resetting your workspace?

Hi. Whom do I reply to in order to show my investigation to everyone who is trying to help me?

I reset my preferences, and YES, now I can move palettes around. I don't know what I might have changed to make them stop working. I guess I'll have to see as I load my preferences back in? Also, though, I still can't keep the toolbar on top, or the status-of-tools bar at the top of the screen on top. Any ideas there? Thanks!!

Preferences contain more than just the user set Preferences that you set in Edit > Preferences. They also contain settings used internally by Photoshop and are saved every time you close the application. If they become corrupted then it can lead to strange behaviours. That is why resetting Preferences is often advised as part of troubleshooting.

The other behaviour is normal when using images in floating windows and, as advised by Kevin above, docking the image windows to tabs keeps the toolbar, menus and option bar in front.

Hi @StevenDenenberg , If you have your images docked as tabs, the panels should stay on top of the image.

I am puzzled over your comment that you can't drag palettes around? Do they not undock and move if you click and drag the palette title tab. Also when undocked they stay on top of an undocked image window.

Hi, Dave and Kevin,

No, if I click and hold on the tab of the palette, that contains the palette's name, and try to drag it somewhere, it won't move. I always work with floating image windows, and they cover the palettes. Even, if an image is covering palettes and I select Window->info from the menu, the info palette stays hidden under the images on the screen. Might this be a Windows 11 thingie?
