Hi! The fact that in these trying times, individuals like us still have to pay the full subscription amounts without any sort of relief in pricing. No, we aren't students, and no we arent earning as well. During these times, it's hard to get a job and I am jobless for the past 1 year. Being in this industry is also hard because you can't even opt for a substitute cause that isn't in demand for the job. All these years of studying as a designer but the struggle seems to be increasing day by day to cope up with the maintenance demand it comes with. Also, I had no option but to write it here cause I couldnt dig more in this section for the help box.

This sounds cruel, but as a professional designer if you can't afford $10 a month (for Photoshop) or around $70 a month for all the Creative Cloud apps – all vital tools – then frankly, you're in the wrong business.

Hey Derek!

I am for sure not in the wrong business, i graduated in 2019 and dropped out the same year to pursue post grad and also did some internships around the same time. Covid hit our country badly in March 2020 when i was interning with a job offer, but couldn't get it because of worsening situation. After everything resumed in late 2020, i tried to get a decent job with decent pay but all i got was internships with job offers which they later deny by giving XYZ reasons. And then again we got hit by the second wave which was a nightmare. It's not the problem of the profession but the system, also Designers in our country don't play in huge money. Our profession is crowded and opportunities are less. If i have to survive on my own with only the money i get and also pay for different softwares here and there (adobe+more) then that's not possible with the money we make.

Being in this industry is also hard because you can't even opt for a substitute cause that isn't in demand for the job.

You can opt to use freeware like Gimp or for-pay-but-perpetual-license-software like Affinity Photo (just examples, I am sure there are a bunch more) – as far as I know both can open and save psd-files; so while they might not maintain editability for Smart Objects, 3D Layers etc. they should be able to edit the Layers’ pixel content (at least if they were saved mit Maximized Compatibility).

Either for now or permanently if dislike Adobe’s Cloud License model strongly enough.

Not great advice, I guess, but still …

This is primarily a user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.

To make a Feature Request that will at least be read by some Adobe personnel please post over on
