I lost my original PSD, but am looking for the temp smart objects I created in my project.

Question

I was staying up late last night working for an Ad for a client, I started the project by importing a PNG, converting it to a Smart Object and working from inside the Smart Object saving frequently. When I closed the project I realised I didn't create a PSD. Whoops.

I know Photoshop stores Smart Objects in the Temp directory, but I don't know where/how to access the PSB I was working on. Even if my file is now deleted, I'm banking that Windows may have created automatically created a back-up in one of my hard drives.

I'm working in CS6 and would REALLY appreciate any help y'all can send my way!

Sorry, but if you close without saving, everything's gone.

Smart objects are embedded in the master file. It only lives in a temporary directory while editing. Even if it was left behind and not automatically deleted as it should, it wouldn't be in a form that could be directly opened.

Autorecovery is crash recovery, not mistake recovery. The folder is automatically flushed in a normal exit.

You can't perform operations that alter pixel data—such as painting, dodging, burning, or cloning—directly to a Smart Object layer, unless it is first converted into a regular layer, which will be rasterized
