I'm at a loss after upgrading to latest version

I'm at a loss after upgrading to the latest version of Ps (24.1.1). I’ve lost all actions, LUTs etc etc etc.

I have no idea how to recover all my previous settings etc etc etc.

Why is it that every time Ps updates we loose all our settings etc etc?

Hi, did you try using Edit>Presets>Import?Export Presets, or  Migrate Presets?

If it does not work, you can find them here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html (scroll down to windows presets.)

More info: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

Because these are all user settings that are stored in your user account, not the program files. Everything in your user account is version specific. Each major version has its own folder with settings (not the dot releases, but the main version).

If you still have the old version installed, you can save everything out and reload it in the new version. Even if the old version is uninstalled, but you opted to keep settings, it will still be there, in its version folder in your user account. Then you can probably just move most of it over.

You should always save actions etc out and keep them in a safe place. That way you can reload them easily whatever happens. They would also disappear if you had to reset preferences for some reason (which can happen from time to time).
