Idea: "Spline" option in Shape Tools

I know Photoshop uses spline graphs in certain panels, so users can manipulate the properties of other functions, such as colour or exposure...

However, I would like to see an option to custom draw a daisy-chain of polygonal lines, or curved splines (with the ability to edit points), as part of the Shapes panel.  This would then enable users to create apply graphics to more complex shape sets, or expand options with the Text tool for paths.
