Can anyone tell me if I can open raw image files directly from Photoshop CC 2020 & Lightroom in the monthly photography plan?

Just for clarity on the above, the ACR plug in is included with the Photography plan , as well as Photoshop and Lightrrom, so nothing extra to buy

Photoshop cannot open raw files, they will open in the Camera Raw plugin (ACR).

When you're done editing in ACR, you can open the file in Photoshop for further editing if you like.

When you click Open Image, the ACR edits are applied to a new RGB file (rendered from the raw file), which opens in Photoshop. The raw file remains unchanged.

So the image you see on screen in ACR is a preview of what the rendered file will look like.

Lightroom works the same way,  except that it doesn't need a plugin to edit raw files, it has ACR built in.

The Camera Raw filter is used from inside Photoshop to edit normal RGB files (not raw files).

It has the same interface as ACR.
