iMac goes crazy when adjusting curves in PS CS20

Recently bought and installed an Epson SC 600P printer. Now when working on curves in a B&W image my Mac starts doing stuff on its own. The trackpad goes hyper sensitive and changes screens, carries out actions without me touching it. Phoned my friend last night! I can't hit the 'stop' button. Have to power down the machine!

I have virus and malware checked my machine and it's clear of infection.

Anyone else experiencing this?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
