Question

Image gets darker when clicking on Photoshop window on external monitor

It happens only inside the Photoshop window on the second monitor. When I use my main (first) Mac screen it gets lighter.

Any advice would be highly appreciated, thanks!

Hi

definitely make this step as recommended:

Change Color Profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for both Windows & macOS: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-change-my-monitor-profile-to-check-whether-its-cor rupted/

You're using "extended desktop" right, not mirroring [Apple / system preferences / displays / arrangement]?

Mirroring can't allow each screen to have its own ICC profile so is unsuitable for imaging work.

Once you've done the test above with sRGB - then DO NOT LEAVE IT SET UP LIKE THAT  be sure to set each display screen's ICC profile correctly [in Apple / system preferences / displays / color, which opens a dialog on each screen]  for each display screen choose the ICC profile you made for each screen.

As Lightroom Queen wrote in that linked post:

"it would then be wise to calibrate your monitor accurately using a hardware calibration device."

If image appearance and accuracy is important you must have a screen calibrator like i1display pro or Spyder to make calibrations/profiles otherwise you can't expect accuracy. Maybe you knew that already, I felt it was worth adding it top the thread.

I hope this helps

if so, please do mark my reply as "helpful"

thanks

I think you have a configuration issue your system color management is not set up correctly. Is all software up to date and you calibrated your displays. I use windows I do not how color management is done on a Mac.

Hi there,

That shouldn't be happening, let's make it right.

As the image turns dark in Photoshop, could you please try changing the screen color profile of the operating system and let us know if it helps?
