Image not opening in correct version of Photoshop

Not sure whether this is a bug or not. When I try to open some images from Windows Explorer by right clicking and "open with" - Photoshop 2024 is not listed, only 2023. So I search for Photoshop 2024 and end up in the folder which contains Photoshop 2024 and press enter but 2023 opens.

Any ideas on cause and cure appreciated please.

@NigelD1 try uninstalling and reinstalling version 2024 from the Creative Cloud app

    Thanks for the response - What about my preferences that are already set up there, will they be saved?

    You can choose to keep your preferences when uninstalling

    As a precaution, you can backup the "Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings" folder from this location

    C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024
