Image Processor fails with open files

I have a batch of PSD & TIF files (17files) open in Photoshop (current CC). The files reside in various folders on a single external HD. I wanted to save JPG copies of the files into a single shared folder. I selected Scripts>Image Processor>Use Open Images>Select Folder. A new folder was created on the same HD. When I clicked "Run" I was prompted that: "There were no source files that could be opened by Photoshop". After dismissing that prompt, another appeared stating: "Sorry I could not process the following files" -this window included a list of all the open files.

The open files described above were left open overnight, but the HD where they reside was shut down. Typically documents left open under these conditions can not be automatically saved to their original locations, and I must navigate to the desired destination. The open files in this situation did NOT require saving, as no commands were issued. I have never had Image processor refuse to export open docs. I would like to keep a record of the files currently open, which I can only see doing in this case with a screenshot of file names. I would also like to better understand the cause of this processing error. The files are Open and should respond to Image Processor export commands.

Is there another way to batch save copies of these files? Any way to save proxies to a Collection in Bridge?

Edit: I was able to generate a contact sheet (with correct filenames) from the open files. I believe this indicates the files are not corrupt. I would still like to know why Image Processor failed.

      It sound to me like the document you had open were not save or needed to be saved.  I get that message and the list when open documents have never been saved.   I save the open doctments as PSD file and ran the Image processor again and it save jpeg file for all the open document I have just saved as psd file.

      Thanks for your input, but I clearly stated that none of the files required saving. I had simply opened the files, and made no alterations.

      "Save" was not an option on any of the files.

      I did eventually notice some odd behavior i.e.: The selected tool would not toggle to Zoom tool when Command/Spacebar was pressed, which typically indicates risk of errors & requires a restart to correct (on my system). So it is possible that anomalous behavior was introduced, requiring restart.

      I know what you wrote.  The only way I know to generate that message in Image Processor is when Documents are not saved.  Photoshp edits documents not files. So to me it looks  like the document you clearly stated did not need saving either need to be saved or  something corrupted Photoshop documents data structures in a way that the document no longer looked like they had backing files.

      You also seen to know the something strange happen on your system when you leave document open over night

      This seems to go along with what I wrote  to Photoshop the documents look like the need to be save  they nor longer had associated  backing files.    You were not able to use save you have to navigate to where the are.   I woult not expect a Hard Disk  being powred  to change  Photoshop Documents data structures to a point that would remove  the path of a docyments backing file.  I would not think the field would be cleared.  Would Photoshop even see that some disk was powered down.  Photoshop does not manage disk drives.
